Glovebox Technology Centre
The Glovebox Technology Centre (GTC), situated at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, is a supporting centre in Europe for the promotion of and active support to scientists and industry for the glove boxes aboard the ISS. Through the GTC, information and support to the researchers and users of all glove boxes can be easily provided, simplifying the preparation of experiments and subsequent execution on the station.
Furthermore, the centre facilitates the maintenance and the retention of expertise needed for the maintenance and on-orbit operations of glove boxes.
The scope of activities for the GTC is based on four pillars, namely
- Maintaining expertise (retention and sustaining engineering);
- Future support items development (new technologies and developments);
- Promotion, reach-out and education, and marketing;
- Experiment and spares support (mission dependent business under ESA contract).
