Product description
The Pressure Equalisation Assembly (PEA) ensures that the cabin pressures of the International Space Station and of the Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) are equalised when the ATV is docked to the station. In addition, the PEA monitors the internal cabin pressure inside the pressurised compartment of the ATV.
Abbreviated functional explanation
The PEA consists of two motorised valves, placed in series for redundancy. Each valve is driven by a brushed DC motor and equipped with micro-switches for end-of-stroke monitoring. The shape of the poppet disc is engineered to provide a near-linear control in terms of stroke versus delta-pressure change to allow for minimum system shocks. Three fully redundant total pressure sensors, based on the design of the Moog Bradford standard pressure transducer, monitor the cabin pressure
Missions
The PEA will be used in all ATV missions so far.
