Abbreviated description
The Portable Glovebox (PGB) is a multi-user facility for biological research on long-duration space flights to the International Space Station. It is qualified to be used inside the US Laboratory Destiny, Columbus Laboratory, and the Russian Segment. The PGB provides two levels of containment; the first level being the enclosure itself (box, gloves, filter), the second level is realized through a negative pressure of 4 mbar inside the box. Three-level containment can be achieved by placing the PGB inside the Microgravity Science Glovebox. The PGB was brought to the ISS with Progress M-57, a Russian automatic cargo craft launched by a Soyuz-U space launch vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
