Orbview 2
Abbreviated description
A 395 kg ocean observation satellite, built by OSC for its subsidiary company ORBIMAGE, for the Mission To Planet Earth initiative, was eventually launched to a 705 km orbit. It carried the sea-viewing wide field of view sensor to build up a global map of ocean vegetation every 48 hours, which has a prime application in the fishing industry. The sensor is multi-spectral with 9 bands. The satellite is based on the ORBITAL PegaStar bus.
