MPLM Leonardo STS-133
Abbreviated description
The three Multi-Purpose Logistics Modules (MPLM), which were built by the Italian Space Agency, are pressurized modules that serve as moving vans carrying equipment, experiments, and supplies to and from the ISS aboard the space shuttle. On this February 2011 mission, Leonardo was permanently attached to the station as the PMM. Modifications before this flight included enhanced shielding and modifications to allow station crewmembers access to its internal equipment. The Permanent MPLM Leonardo marked its eighth and final visit to the orbiting laboratory and this was the final flight of Discovery also because the space shuttle is phased out.
