MPLM Leonardo STS-128
Abbreviated description
The three Multi-Purpose Logistics Modules (MPLM), which were built by the Italian Space Agency, are pressurized modules that serve as moving vans carrying equipment, experiments, and supplies to and from the ISS aboard the space shuttle. This MPLM was to assist with establishing a six-man crew capacity by bringing extra supplies and equipment to the station. It contained three racks for life support, a crew quarter to be installed in Kibo, a new treadmill that was temporarily placed in Node 2, and an air revitalization system that was temporarily placed in Kibo.
