ATV 5 Georges Lemaitre
Abbreviated description
The Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) has been developed to transfer cargo to the International Space Station and, at the end of its operational life of six months, to dispose of waste from this station when it burns up in the atmosphere. ATV 5 will carry supplies to the ISS, allowing today’s – equally excellent – Belgian researchers to carry out experiments and research on the ISS, thus pushing the boundaries of human knowledge forward in the tradition of Georges Lemaître.”
